Strong Church leadership requires lifelong formation. Maryknoll supports continuing education opportunities for priests, religious sisters and brothers, seminarians, catechists, and Church leaders throughout East Africa. By strengthening theological, pastoral, and professional skills, this program equips leaders to respond effectively to the needs of their communities while strengthening the Church across the region.
Fr. Dinh’s project is to assist the local church in training and formation necessary to continue our mission to support and strengthen local church. The majority people in the Diocese depend on agriculture and keeping of animals, leaving no available funds to help support the church and the studies of major seminarians.
The Catholic Diocese of Shinyanga was formed and cultivated by Maryknoll since 1950. Today the seeds that have been planted by Maryknoll have blossomed with 67 major seminarians (2021-2022) and 82 for this year (2022-2023). With your help, Fr. Dinh hopes to continue the education of these young men.

A parish is more than a place of worship—it is the heart of a community. The people of Transfiguration Parish are building a social hall that will serve as a gathering place for faith formation, youth activities, educational programs, parish meetings, and community events. Designed to accommodate hundreds of people, the facility will also provide opportunities for income-generating activities that help sustain parish ministries. Your support helps create a welcoming space where faith, fellowship, and community life can flourish.
For several years, the Region has been sending teams of university students to serve in impoverished, pastoralist, marginalized areas of northern Kenya: Turkana, Isiolo, Marsabit, and Pokot. The teams assist in parishes for 4-6 weeks and carry out educational, catechetical, women’s empowerment programs, and health programs in the parishes. Two mission teams of medical, nursing, public health, and pharmacy students volunteer for medical ministry in Turkana, northwestern Kenya. University students will offer tutoring in parish schools for primary and secondary school students. They will assist catechists in providing religious instruction. They will offer health education in matters of diet, hygiene, maternal health, children’s health, human sexuality, and HIV prevention. Medical, nursing, and pharmacy students will assist in parish dispensaries. Students in agriculture and animal husbandry will offer training on small-scale agriculture and livestock development.
Your support will give student participants the experience of mission for a new understanding of themselves as agents of evangelization by living our Catholic faith. Fr. John Waldrep wants to assist parishes in northern Kenya with their educational, catechetical, women’s, and health outreach programs.
Many women in Nairobi’s poorest neighborhoods carry the responsibility of caring for their children with little support and few opportunities. Some have escaped abusive relationships, while others struggle to provide for their families on their own. Through this project, Maryknoll helps women start small businesses, access healthcare, and provide education for their children. By empowering mothers to achieve economic independence, the project strengthens families and creates pathways out of poverty. Your generosity restores dignity, stability, and hope to women and children facing difficult circumstances.
Education has the power to break the cycle of poverty and transform entire families. Maryknoll is helping young people pursue educational and vocational opportunities that would otherwise be beyond their reach. Through scholarships and skills training in fields such as carpentry, electrical work, culinary arts, and other trades, students gain the tools they need to build stable careers and support their families. Your generosity opens doors to opportunity and helps young people create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
People living with albinism in Tanzania often face discrimination, isolation, and even violence because of harmful myths and misconceptions. Maryknoll is working to restore dignity and opportunity through education, advocacy, medical support, and practical assistance. The ministry provides sun protection, healthcare, educational support, and emergency assistance while raising awareness within local communities. Your support helps protect vulnerable individuals, promote inclusion, and affirm the dignity of every person.
For more than three decades, EDARP has been a beacon of hope for individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Kenya. Supported by Maryknoll, the program provides life-saving treatment, counseling, testing, maternal healthcare, prevention education, and spiritual support. Thousands of people receive comprehensive care through EDARP each year, helping them live longer, healthier lives. By addressing both medical and emotional needs, the program restores dignity and hope to some of Kenya’s most vulnerable communities. Your support helps ensure that life-saving services remain available to those who need them most.
