To report, research and write original mission content in English and Spanish for publication in print, digital, online and social media for Maryknoll’s multimedia magazines. To edit stories from staff, missioners and correspondents; proofread articles for the Spanish magazine; travel for reporting to Maryknoll missions overseas; represent the magazines at meetings and conferences as assigned; support the editors in production and administrative tasks as required; support the U.S. Mission Education Apostolate’s outreach efforts as needed. Other job responsibilities include production of memes and other content for social media posts and helping to manage Maryknoll social media accounts and the magazine webpages.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a journalist writing in English and Spanish; a strong understanding and appreciation of Roman Catholicism and the Catholic Church in the United States. Reporting, interviewing, writing, editing, translating and proofreading, with fluency in English and Spanish; computer and Internet literate, proficiency with Word, InDesign/InCopy and WordPress preferred; a strong news sense and feature-writing ability, an eye for good photography; experience working with various social media platforms. Knowledge of basic, short-form video production a plus.
