Through digital ministry based in Hong Kong, Maryknoll reaches thousands of individuals with Scripture reflections, podcasts, online faith resources, and spiritual content designed to inspire and uplift listeners and readers wherever they happen to be. This content is crafted to be accessible to people encountering the faith at very different points in their spiritual journey, from lifelong Catholics to curious newcomers.
Reaching a global audience through digital media reflects the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Solidarity, extending the Church’s reach to people separated by geography, culture, or circumstance from a physical parish community. A Catholic parish is more than a building where Mass is celebrated each week; it is often the central hub of community life, hosting everything from youth programs to educational classes to neighborhood gatherings. At Transfiguration Parish, however, the community has long lacked a dedicated space for these activities, limiting how fully parish life can flourish beyond Sunday liturgy.
To address this gap, the parish community is building a social hall designed to accommodate hundreds of people for a wide range of uses: faith formation classes, youth activities, educational programs, parish meetings, and community events that currently have no suitable venue. Maryknoll is helping bring this project to completion, supporting both the construction and the eventual furnishing of the space.
A shared gathering space embodies the Catholic Social Teaching principle of the Call to Family, Community, and Participation, recognizing that a healthy parish depends on more than Sunday liturgy alone to form genuine community bonds. In helping complete this hall, Maryknoll continues its charism of building durable local institutions capable of sustaining parish life and generating their own resources long after outside support has ended.

In some of Nairobi’s poorest neighborhoods, many women raise their children largely on their own, with little financial support and few opportunities for stable employment. Some have fled abusive relationships; others have been widowed or abandoned. Without access to savings, credit, or job training, many struggle simply to keep their children fed, housed, and in school.
Maryknoll works directly with these women to help them build more secure and independent lives. The project provides support for launching small businesses, along with access to healthcare services and assistance covering school-related costs for their children. Rather than offering only short-term relief, the emphasis is on equipping women with practical tools, such as basic business skills and startup capital, that allow them to generate their own steady income over time.
This ministry embodies the Catholic Social Teaching principle of the Option for the Poor and Vulnerable, giving particular attention to mothers and children who carry disproportionate burdens of poverty, and affirms the Dignity of the Human Person by recognizing every woman’s capacity for self-determination. oung women escaping abuse, trafficking, abandonment, or extreme poverty in Peru often have nowhere safe to turn, particularly when family relationships have broken down or become dangerous. Without a secure place to stay, many face an impossible choice between remaining in harmful circumstances or facing the risks of homelessness, including further exploitation.
La Posadita del Buen Pastor provides shelter, meals, guidance, and support to vulnerable young women seeking a genuine fresh start. Residents receive not only basic physical necessities but also counseling and structured opportunities to begin rebuilding their lives in a safe, nurturing environment, one designed specifically around the needs of young women who have experienced trauma or exploitation.
Sheltering young women fleeing abuse and exploitation embodies the Catholic Social Teaching principle of the Life and Dignity of the Human Person, affirming that no woman’s worth is diminished by what has been done to her. Violence and instability in Myanmar have forced thousands of children and young adults to flee their homeland, seeking safety and opportunity in neighboring Thailand. Many arrive with little more than what they could carry, having lost access to consistent schooling, stable housing, and basic services during their journey and displacement.
Maryknoll helps provide food, shelter, medical care, educational support, and language instruction for refugee students living at Wat Prok Mon Temple in Bangkok, a community that has taken in Burmese refugees seeking safety within Thailand’s borders. These services address both the immediate necessities of daily survival and the longer-term goal of allowing students to continue their education despite significant disruption.
