The American Pope: Pope Leo XIV
Pope Leo XIV has spent his life as a missionary. Now he begins a new mission— and we are with him.
We are Maryknoll.
For over a century we have served as missionaries around the globe — helping the poor, the refugees, the sick, the forgotten. We seek to be the face of Christ to others.
Join us and Pope Leo on this vital mission of hope!
“We are called to be a missionary Church that opens its arms to the world.”
— Pope Leo XIV
About Maryknoll
We are a US Catholic order of priests and brothers who, for over 100 years, have modeled itself after the compassion of Jesus in reaching out to those in the world who are the most in need. Grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers partner with local churches to bring compassion, relief, and the message of God’s love to the poor on the fringes of society.
Maryknoll Magazine
MARYKNOLL magazine, the dream of Bishop James Anthony Walsh, was first published on Jan. 1, 1907, as The Field Afar. There Bishop Walsh was then director of the Boston Archdiocese’s Society for the Propagation of the Faith, an organization dedicated to promoting mission awareness.
This Summer 2025 issue of Maryknoll magazine is dedicated to our beloved Pope Francis. Our cover story pays tribute to the pope from Argentina who was a sign of hope and inspiration for the Maryknoll family, the Catholic Church and the world.
Vocation Ministry
Through baptism, Jesus calls on us all to be missioners.
He calls some of us to a uniquely enriching life overseas, serving God’s children in need as missionary priests and brothers.
Mission Education
In the U.S., Maryknoll educates, accompanies, and empowers local parishes, communities and individuals to GO FORTH as living signs of God’s love and compassion to the entire world.
We Are All Called to Mission
We offer support and programs for front-line parish and diocesan ministers, religious educators, and other local leaders to form and foster communities of missionary disciples at your parish and school.
