The Maryknoll
Family
Maryknoll – the heart and hands of the U.S. Catholic Church’s overseas mission work for more than 100 years – is comprised of four independent organizations.
The heart and hands of mission
Different vocations. A common horizon.
Across four independent organizations, members of the Maryknoll family answer the call to mission through religious life, ordained ministry, lay service, prayer, reflection and action.
Mission is not a single role. It is a shared way of living—rooted in faith and expressed through service.
Four organizations
One family, many ways to serve
Each member of the Maryknoll family is independently governed and carries its own charism, communities, and programs.
Called to cross borders
The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers serve to witness the call to mission with the poor and those most suffering around the world in concert with the rest of the Maryknoll family.
Lives devoted to God’s love
Maryknoll Sisters give witness to God’s love and devote their lives in service overseas helping the poor, the ailing and the marginalized.
Today the Maryknoll Sisters have approximately 423 Sisters serving in 24 countries worldwide.
Lay lives shaped by mission
We welcome U.S. Catholics – single people, married couples and families – to respond to the call of mission.
The Maryknoll Lay Missioners serve communities in Africa, Asia and the Americas, helping create a more just and compassionate world.
Mission lived where you are
While continuing to pursue their own life’s journey, Maryknoll Affiliates commit themselves to the mission goals of Maryknoll in the context of Chapters that gather for prayer, reflection and action.
