Time Capsule Reinstalled

The Reinstallation of the Maryknoll Time Capsule

The Maryknoll Society time capsule, removed and opened as part of the centennial commemoration, has been resealed and reinstalled to be opened again in 50 years. On January 3, 2012, members of the Maryknoll Society and employees gathered outside the Maryknoll Society Mission Center to witness this historic event. Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers Superior General Fr. Edward Dougherty blessed the capsule and lead an intimate procession from inside the Society Center to place the time capsule in the cornerstone outside the Mission Center. The metal chest contains more than 50 items. Among the contents are centennial memorabilia from the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, including a DVD of the Maryknoll Centennial Mass held at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in New York City, and items from the Maryknoll Sisters (a sliver Chi Rho Ring and Metal Cross), the Maryknoll Lay Missioners (prayer card) and the Maryknoll Affiliates (letter from New York Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan)
