17th annual Assumption Procession in New York City

Assumption Parish Procession

The Church of the Transfiguration held its 17th annual Assumption Procession in New York City during mid-August. This year, as the procession weaved through the streets of Chinatown, parishioners also honored the 100th anniversary of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. The procession was the idea of a small group of parishioners. Over the years, participation in the procession has grown considerably. Built in 1801, the Church of the Transfiguration is the oldest Catholic Church in New York City. It has served Catholics from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds for more than 200 years.
