Region:

Latin America

Country:

Bolivia

Missioner Responsible:

Brother Joseph Bruener, M.M.

Brother Joe Bruener, M.M. hopes to lend out chickens and rabbits to parishioners to raise for food or pets. Once their animal produces offspring, they will give back one of the offspring, keep the original animal and the new offspring will be lent out to another family. It’s a club that meets once a week, where they pray then go on to build rabbit hutches, learn about feeding and care of the animals and how to raise them properly for food or pets.

Your support with help to start a weekly club with Brother Joe that teaches responsibility and living our Catholic faith. Volunteers will be guest speakers who will advise the group on care and feeding of rabbits and chickens.

Brother Joseph Bruener, M.M.

Along with the need for food and medicine, Brother Joe Bruener hopes to help the children at San Martin home have a ‘normal’ childhood. They don’t always have money to cover expenses for extras like field trips to the parks or museums or money to buy treats for the fiestas. Sometimes they need new clothes and there isn’t enough money for that. The older ones may need help with training when they leave the system. There is a broad spectrum of needs where you can help.

The needs of the children are so great and the money they have is really limited. Brother Bruener needs your help!

“Why must a missioner assume the role of physician of the body as well as of the soul? Simply because, if we do not, it will not be done. When Our Lord sent His apostles to preach to the whole world, did He not say something about curing also?”

– Fr. Otto Rauschenbach, Maryknoll Magazine, January 1941

Missioner Responsible:

Fr. John Waldrep, M.M.

Fr. John Waldrep’s project will teach about COVID and its impact on Tanzanians. COVID has hit the informal economy very hard. Many day laborers are out of work and unable to meet basic needs like food and rent. In addition, Fr. John hopes to help those in their COVID relief measures and other social service programs.

Help parishes in the Southern area of Dar es Salaam as well as various religious congregations in their assistance programs.

“Our Christian mission directs us to aid less-fortunate fellow humans in body as well as soul. We extend our aid to raise standards of living and to provide better facilities for health and education. We recognize the right of every man to have enough to wear, sufficient to eat, decent housing, and the opportunity to raise and educate a family. These are just some of the practical applications of what the word “mission” means.”

- The Mark of a Christian by Fr. Albert Nevins, Editorial, December 1960 p. 37

Missioner Responsible:

Fr. John Waldrep, M.M.

Fr. John Waldrep has developed a system to assist women meet their expenses and start some small on-the-street businesses (fruit and vegetable stands, fast food stands, and stands for small domestic items and beauty products) that enable them to meet their expenses and move away from commercial sex work. The second part of this project is maternal assistance to pregnant secondary school young women and university women. Pregnant university students are denied on-campus accommodations soon after the first trimester. In addition to meeting the costs of pre-natal care, they must pay rent and utilities, prepare to cover delivery costs, purchase baby clothes, and buy food. Often, families refuse to assist pregnant students and insist on ending the pregnancy.

With your help, women will be able to establish small on-the-street businesses and meet their daily needs for food, housing, education and medical care for their children. Pregnant young women will be able to attend secondary school and university students will continue their studies.

“Everywhere we are touched by the triumph of the human spirit and enriched by encountering people’s faith experience. We join with them announcing the healing, reconciling and liberating Jesus.”
