Mission Educator – Promoter (Chicago and Houston)

The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers share the Good News of God’s love by accompanying and serving people on the margins throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America. Maryknoll serves the Roman Catholic Church locally in the U.S. by fostering a “culture of mission” and supporting “communities of missionary disciples” through its mission education programs. Maryknoll is seeking two Mission Educators – Promoters to work primarily with the teams and projects focused on Young Adults, Hispanic Leaders and Catechist – Teachers.

There are two positions open. Although traveling and working remotely (especially during COVID-19) are included in the positions, preference will be given to applicants able to work out of the Houston and Chicago areas.

Responsibilities:
● Cultivate and maintain relationships with strategic partners to promote mission and foster communities of missionary disciples
● Develop, promote and provide mission formation/education opportunities and resources for diocesan and front-line parish ministers and others interested in participating in mission
● Participate in and coordinate mission immersion trips and partnerships with parishes involved in twinning and mission
● Participate in Maryknoll’s fundraising efforts, including Mission Appeals, as needed
● Promote a culture for missionary vocations
● Collaborate with other Maryknoll Mission Promoters in the U.S. and with national teams to support mission education initiatives

Qualifications:
● B.A. or B.S., graduate work preferred or equivalent experience
● A passion for God’s mission as shown by Jesus and a drive to be part of and help create “communities of missionary disciples” in the local U.S. Church
● Familiarity with and acceptance of social teaching and contemporary theology and in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church, with the ability to meet the criteria for working within local dioceses
● Ability to work independently AND work collaboratively on a team, with a strong sense of flexibility, creativity, and adaptability
● Willingness to travel nationally and internationally; evening and weekend work required
● Good public and interpersonal communication skills and particularly good presentation and facilitation ability and skills, as well as good promotion, organizational and community building skills
● Strong ability and skills to write clearly and concisely
● Previous mission-focused, Hispanic ministry, young adult ministry and/or teaching/catechetical experience preferred
● Motor vehicle, good driving record and automobile insurance or other means of transportation necessary for the job; satisfactory credit report, drug and criminal records screening
● Ability to use technology including Microsoft Office, Google products, Hubspot, video conferencing and social media, etc.
● Fluency in written and spoken in English and Spanish required.

This is a Full Time Exempt Position with paid vacation, medical, dental and other benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Target start date: March 15, 2021.

Maryknoll está buscando 2 Educadores y Promotores Misioneros para trabajar principalmente con los equipos y proyectos enfocados en Jóvenes Adultos, Líderes Hispanos y Catequistas – Maestros.

Hay dos posiciones abiertas. Aunque viajar y trabajar de forma remota (especialmente durante COVID-19) están incluidas en las plazas, se les dará preferencia a los solicitantes que trabajen desde las áreas de Houston y Chicago.

Responsabilidades:

Cualidades:
● LICENCIATURA EN LETRAS. o B.S., experiencia de trabajo de posgrado o experiencia equivalente
● Pasión por la misión de Dios como lo enseña Jesús, participando y ayudando a crear “comunidades de discípulos misioneros” en la Iglesia local de EE.UU.
● Alto nivel moral y acorde con los requerimientos de la Iglesia Católica Romana. Cumplir con los criterios y estándares para trabajar en diócesis locales, familiaridad y aceptación de la teología católica contemporánea
● Capacidad de trabajar de forma independiente, trabajar en equipo de forma colaborativa, con un fuerte sentido de flexibilidad, creatividad y adaptabilidad
● Se requiere viajar nacional e internacionalmente, se requiere trabajo nocturno y de fines de semana
● Buenas habilidades de relaciones públicas e interpersonales, buena capacidad y habilidad de facilitación de talleres, así como buenas habilidades de promoción, organización y desarrollo de comunidades
● Capacidad y habilidad de escribir de forma clara y concisa
● Experiencias previas con enfoque en misión, ministerio Hispano, experiencia en ministerios con jóvenes adultos y/o experiencia en enseñanza/catequesis es preferida
● Vehículo de transporte, buen registro de manejo y seguro de automóvil u otros medios de transporte necesarios para el trabajo; informe de crédito satisfactorio, examen de registros de drogas y antecedentes penales
● Habilidades con el uso de la tecnología, incluyendo Microsoft Office, productos de Google, Hubspot, videoconferencias, redes sociales, etc.
● Se requiere fluidez en español e inglés (escrito y oral).
