But sometimes, just showing up is enough. Maryknoll Father Mike Snyder served as a university chaplain in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he accompanied students visiting orphanages, homes for the elderly, and centers for people with disabilities. \u201cI didn\u2019t lead or offer any big advice,\u201d he said. \u201cI was just there.\u201d The students later told him how much his presence meant\u2014he gave them space to discover their own way to support others. His quiet example reminded them\u2014and reminds us\u2014that mission doesn\u2019t always mean having the answers. Sometimes it means listening, standing beside others, and letting love speak through our presence.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”4. He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another. They are sent with nothing but a greeting of peace. Like them, we\u2019re often called to show up with little more than open hands and willing hearts. In a world full of conflict and distraction, that can feel risky. But Jesus invites us to rely on the generosity of others and to trust that our presence matters. Walking into someone\u2019s life with humility\u2014not with answers\u2014is how we begin to build peace. One small way to bring peace in this moment is to provide comfort: a backpack, clean clothes, a soft blanket, a book. Look for local programs in your area that support children in crisis and lend a hand by volunteering or making a donation.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”8.
